The Mungus is a creature I created to help teach children about different natural elements and aspects in our universe.
Some facts about The Mungus:

Family Portraits: Insects (2015)
Family Portraits is an ongoing series that questions humanity's place as the dominant species and explores the relationship between humans and animals by depicting what the world might look like if we were replaced, or lived alongside different creatures from the animal kingdom.
In this incarnation:
Through the lens of a portrait photographer at the end of the 19th century we are introduced to an alternate world where insects have grown to mammoth proportions and strange human/insect hybrids pose with poise. All pieces are painted with ink on wood panels and are based on authentic 19th century cabinet cards.

Advanced Style: The Coloring Book (2013)
In the Fall of 2012 I collaborated with Ari Seth Cohen to create the Advanced Style: The Coloring Book. We did a limited self published run of 150 which sold out in one day! PowerHouse Books, who publish Ari's beautiful Advanced Style book of photographs, contacted us to see if we wanted to publish an expanded edition with them. Of course we said yes. The published edition includes updated and new images as well as several activity pages such as connect the dots, word-search, and an interview page.
For those of you unfamiliar, Advanced Style is a street style blog created by Ari Seth Cohen that features pictures of fashionable senior citizens from New York City and beyond. It has since spawned three books, a documentary, and this coloring book.

DISTANT RELATIVES (2012)
In Distant Relatives I explore the relationship between the past and present, and the place we as individuals inhabit within the greater narrative of our continuing family histories.
I have always been fascinated by old family photos. Part of that fascination lies in the reality of a world inhabited by people who are close to me, but where I do not exist. This series is comprised of family members on my father’s side whose memories have cast a shadow over my family history, but who I personally have never known.
